The company has assured that it will roll out an update for the players after its investigation of the attack is complete.

How this ransomware attack has affected Riot Games
Riot mentioned that the hackers behind this data breach have also sent a ransom email to the company which it has refused to pay. The company hasn’t officially mentioned the amount that hackers have demanded. However, a report by Motherboard claims that the hackers asked for $10 million from the video game publisher.

The company has also claimed that this attack has “disrupted” its “build environment” and that the data breach may cause issues in the upcoming days. Riot mentioned that the “exposure of source code can increase the likelihood of new cheats emerging.” The company has assured that it has been working to assess its impact on the anti-cheat platform since the attack. Riot also said that it even “prepared to deploy fixes as quickly as possible if needed.”

Riot Games added that it will release a full report in the future detailing the attackers’ techniques, the areas where Riot’s security controls failed, and the steps we’re taking to ensure this doesn’t happen again”.
